Designing Desirable Futures
During the summit, we presented Manuvo’s latest trend report The Future of Math Education in Brazil, co-created with Stef Silva, co-founder of Invisible Lab.
Following the presentation of six global trends, our founder Maurits Montañez facilitated a Futures Design Sprint where participants analyzed signals of change to imagine and visualize desirable futures, focusing on two critical pillars: equity and innovative pedagogical methods designed to engage every student in Brazil’s public school system.

Leading Voices and Experts
The event featured a remarkable lineup of speakers, including:
- Philip Daro: Lead writer of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
- Lisa Delpit: MacArthur Fellow and celebrated author of Other People’s Children.
- Akihiko Takahashi: Professor Emeritus at DePaul University and expert in Japanese lesson study.
- Karin Forssell: Director of Stanford GSE’s Learning, Design & Technology program and the AI Tinkery.
- Esther Jiyoung Yoon: Senior Program Officer, K-12 Education at the Gates Foundation.

Looking Ahead
The work created during this summit now serves as a foundation for the next chapter of math education in Brazil. At Manuvo, we are energized to continue this project, transforming this collaborative effort into scalable impact.
Our thanks go to the Lemann Foundation, Instituto Reúna, and Stanford University for this incredible opportunity, and to Stef Silva for her incredible partnership during this project.
