Eduardo Carranza was a prominent Colombian poet, writer, and diplomat born in 1913. His poetry explored themes of identity, death, love, and the land. He pioneered the literary movement Piedra y Cielo, the most important poetic movements of the 20th century in Colombia. As an essayist and critic, he contributed significantly to Colombian and Latin American literature, leaving a lasting legacy of thought-provoking poetry and a rich cultural heritage. He passed away in 1985.
The app Eduardo Carranza features a selection of poems read by the author and actors Jairo Camargo and Carolina Cuervo, as well as a collection of photographs, letters, manuscripts, press clippings, and a timeline illustrating his life. It also includes an essay on Piedra y Cielo by Juan Gustavo Cobo Borda, and exclusive interviews with notable figures who knew the poet.
This project was published on the occasion of the Carranza Year, in which the Colombian Ministry of Culture and the National Library commemorated the 100th anniversary of his birth. As part of these events, the Carranza family donated the poet's personal archive, which made this application possible.
