About the project

People with blindness and visual impairment often face challenges when navigating public spaces, especially museums. Many museums prohibit visitors from touching objects, which can create stress and anxiety for those with disabilities and discourage them from visiting.

Manuvo collaborated with four regional museums in the state of Campeche to evaluate accessibility needs for people with disabilities and created interactive modules for touchscreens, a responsive website, and an app that interacts with onsite haptic stations for visitors with blindness and visual impairment, and audio descriptions and videos with Mexican sign language.

This project includes work for Museum of Mayan Architecture Baluarte de la Soledad, Museum of Mayan Archaeology Fuerte de San Miguel, Museum of Mayan Archaeology Camino Real de Hecelchakán, and the Museum of Underwater Archaeology Fuerte de San José el Alto.
