TONE OF VOICE

Better days

Pity isn’t our thing. We’re ever upbeat, finding hope in even the bleakest moments. We’re all about radiating brightness.

THINK

The nature of what we do means we can’t avoid heavy issues. Inequality, injustice, sexism. But we’ve no desire to dwell on sadness. Yes, there are things that need changing. But this is a wonderful world that’s packed with inspiring people doing amazing things. And we believe we should all be working together to change what needs changing. That’s where our head is.

LIKE THIS

The world is facing challenges. Like extreme wealth inequality. But challenges are there for us to rise to. And there’s a growing generation using culture to drive change. To build a tomorrow that looks better than our today. That’s the future we’re all working towards – our future.

NOT LIKE THIS

Glass half full. The world is currently a dark place. For example, wealth inequality is at disparate levels not seen since the Gilded Age. However, there might be some hope. There is an increasing alliance of activists utilizing culture for change. It is critical they can make it happen, let’s hope so because time is running out.

BECAUSE

The first states reality without being intense. The world is facing challenges’ and isn’t ‘a dark place’, and wealth inequality is ‘extreme’ rather than at ‘disparate levels not seen since the Gilded Age’ (which sounds ominous and itself a little elitist). While the statements in the second are true, they’re gloomy and formal. It also finishes in a negative, unsure way. Whereas the first is direct, conversational, and certain of a bright future.
